David de Gea says Manchester United need to add more experience to their squad if they are to challenge for the major trophies.
United went out of the Europa League after a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla, a third semi-final exit of the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho remains United's No.1 target, with the Reds hopeful of securing a deal for the £100million-rated 20-year-old.
But United goalkeeper De Gea reckons they also need to bring in more mature players with greater experience if Solskjaer's side are to go to the next level.
“I think we improved already this season,” said De Gea. "We were 14 points behind the third position in the Premier League. We finished third at the end.
“We played very good, I think, in many games. We deserved to be in the Europa League final, if we're honest.
“But maybe we need a bit of experience, more experience in the team, but we have to score the chances. That was the point for us from the game.
"Let's keep improving, let's keep fighting for this club and let's try to win trophies next season.
“I think we are playing very good football, attacking football, and we're all enjoying playing attacking football.
"There have been a lot of games, not a lot of rest, so we have a couple of weeks to rest, properly rest, and then start training again.
"The games go again and we have to be 100 per cent focused and ready to play our best football."
De Gea's status as United No.1 has been questioned on the back of some high-profile blunders, while the return of Dean Henderson from a loan spell will provide competition for him.
But De Gea, 29, said he has never doubted himself, even when his confidence looked to have deserted him following his costly mistakes.
"No, I trust in myself,” said De Gea. "I showed my qualities all the years, so I just keep available for the manager.
"I'm always ready to play and try to help the team as always, as I did always."
