David de Gea linked with a move away as Napoli 'monitor' Manchester United defender

Welcome to the United On My Mind daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester United stories that you might have missed.

David de Gea has been in fine form this season and he's reportedly attracted interest from a Serie A side.

Napoli are in need of a centre-back and reports suggest they have opened talks with United over a deal for Axel Tuanzebe.

And finally, could United finally bring Ousmane Dembele to Old Trafford? It's understood that his talks with Barcelona over a new deal have hit a stumbling block, potentially opening the door for United...

Juventus want De Gea

Todo Fichajes claim Juventus are interested in De Gea and that they see him as the perfect replacement for Wojciech Szczesny.

De Gea has had plenty of ups and downs in Manchester, having struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League when he first moved to Old Trafford in 2011 before developing into the best goalkeeper in the league.

A blip in form and the emergence of Dean Henderson saw the Spaniard tipped with a move away, though he's back to his best this season and has made some crucial saves.

Our view: I'd be disappointed to see De Gea leave given his quality performances this season.

The Spaniard probably isn't the perfect goalkeeper when you consider Rangnick's high-pressing style of play, but he's been immense this season and I'd only be comfortable selling him if we had a world-class replacement waiting in the wings.

Napoli eye Axel

Tuanzebe has struggled to cement his place in the United first team despite having been one of the brightest stars in the club's academy.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa but has only featured nine times this season, and Italian side Napoli are hoping to thrash out a deal to bring him to Serie A.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Napoli are on the hunt for a new centre-back and they are hoping to sign Tuanzebe on an initial loan deal with the option to buy.

Our view: Despite Tuanzebe's obvious potential, it seems his United days are over.

If the club can secure a fee for the player, even if it means he's to be shipped out on loan again for another season, then I think it would be best for all involved.

Dembele’s Barcelona exit?

Dembele’s future at his current club has been called into question more times than Paul Pogba's in recent months, with the Barcelona man's contract ticking down to expiry next summer.

Spanish outlet Sport have now reported that after a long meeting with Barca over a new deal, Dembele’s agent left without his client signing an extension.

Xavi is understood to be desperate to keep hold of the talented France international, though it seems his time at the club may be over.

United have been linked with Dembele for some time now and this latest development could open the door for them to make their move.

Our view: Dembele is a wonderful talent and his signing would be a huge statement of intent from United.

However, his injury record makes for grim reading and so I'm not sure it would be the wisest of moves. I'd be lying if I were to say I wouldn't be delighted if he signed for the club, but it would undoubtedly be a massive risk.
