David De Gea and Shay Given praise Irish youngster as ingenious goalkeeper training goes viral

One Irish young lad has gone viral for his ingenious goalkeeper training while on lockdown during the coronavirus crisis.

With sport across the country temporarily shut down to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Dublin youngster made the best of a bad situation by training at home.

Using his back garden wall, the youngster is seen in the viral video kicking a ball against the wall and attempting to stop the rebound from hitting the net behind him.

And with over 2.7 million views on the Twitter video, pro goalkeepers have taken notice - with Man United legend Peter Schmeichel as well as current 'keeper David De Gea heaping praise on the young lad.

Schmeichel said: "Nothing, not even an evil virus like the CONVID-19 should stop a talented goalkeeper from working on getting better. Well done young man."

De Gea added: "Love it!"

And legendary Ireland number one Shay Given was also impressed with what he saw, urging the youngster to keep working on his skills.

The former Republic of Ireland goalie commented: "I love it well done and keep working hard."

Ben Foster added: "What a legend!!!! I don’t know how we’re gonna be able to do it but I’m gonna have to put a training session on for ya!!!! Keep going mate I love it."
