David Datro Fofana sends message to Chelsea fans after finalising ‘dream’ move

Chelsea have officially finalised the signing of striker David Datro Fofana from Molde.

The Blues confirmed they had reached an agreement to sign the 20-year-old at the end of December, and the move has now been wrapped up with Fofana signing a six-and-a-half-year contract. There is an option to extend for a further 12 months.

It continues a busy window for Chelsea, after Benoit Badiashile put pen to paper on a seven-and-a-half-year deal from Monaco as he arrived for £33million from Monaco. Andrey Santos has also been bought from Vasco de Gamos.

Fofana, signed for £8.6m, was in the stands at the City Ground last weekend as his new team-mates drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

“Hello dear fans, I’m here, I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams,” Fofana told the club’s official website.

“I’ll see you soon on the pitch, cheers!”

Speaking at a press conference earlier this week, Graham Potter suggested the Blues are not looking to rush Fofana into action.

“We still need to wait for the clearances and all those formalities,” Potter said.

“He’s been on a bit of a break so we’ll give him some time to train, to assess him, and then work out the best solution in terms of taking the next step in his career.”

However, the injury situation in forward areas at the club could force Chelsea into using the striker earlier than planned, with Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja all currently out.
