David Clifford reveals toughest opponent and which player he models his game after

Kerry star David Clifford reckons Clare veteran Gordon Kelly is the toughest player he has marked to date.

Clifford may only be 21 but has already tested himself against some of the country's top defenders.

His toughest man-marker, however, doesn't play for a Division 1 side or an All-Ireland rival.

In a Q & A with fans, GMHD.IE ambassador Clifford explained: "There’s been a few. There’s a lad from Clare, his name is Gordon Kelly, I’ve marked him for the last two years in a row.

"He’s tough, he’s very experienced, he’s cute we’ll say. But he’s been the toughest I’ve marked to be honest with you."

Clifford also went on to explain how he is a big fan of Donegal's Michael Murphy.

If he could choose to snap one player up for Kerry in a hypothetical transfer market - it would be the Donegal talisman.

He added: "It’s a tough one I suppose, we’re lucky enough in Kerry we don’t long for too many fellas in too many positions but I suppose I’d have to say someone like Michael Murphy.

"If you were to ask nearly anyone this question I think he’d be the answer that would be given to you. An unbelievable operator and he has been for the last 10 or 15 years.

"I suppose he probably made his debut in around 2010/11, I’m not sure but that’s at probably the age I was taking in most football and actually starting to remember things and different things like that.

"But yeah, Michael Murphy would definitely be someone that you try and base your game off in some way."
