David Carr excludes Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins from his top 5 receivers list

NFL Network analyst David Carr released his top five receivers list, and there is a very conspicuous absence.

Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins did not crack the top five at all.

It is one thing to argue whether or not Hopkins is the greatest receiver in the game. It is quite another to leave him out of the conversation, which is what his absence from this list suggests.

One of the best arguments for Hopkins’ inclusion in the top five is his 2017 season. Despite quarterback Deshaun Watson tearing his ACL on Nov. 2, three days before their game at the Indianapolis Colts, Hopkins’ production did not decline. In fact, the former 2013 first-round pick caught a total of 96 passes for 1,378 yards, and led the NFL with 13 touchdown catches. All of that was produced en route to a first-team All-Pro selection.

Oakland Raiders receiver Antonio Brown topped the list with Atlanta Falcons wideout Julio Jones placing second, Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham coming in third, Green Bay Packers wideout Davante Adams securing fourth, and Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green finishing fifth.
