David Cameron has mocked Nigel Farage for pronouncing his name in a “poncey, foreign-sounding” manner rather than an “English” way.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Cameron praised Labour MP Ben Bradshaw for referring to the Ukip leader’s name to rhyme with “Farridge”, rather than “Farrahge”.
“I’m glad he takes the English pronunciation of Farage rather than the rather poncey foreign-sounding one that he seems to prefer,” the prime minister said.
Farage has always said people can pronounce his name to rhyme with however they say ‘garage’.
Referencing this, the Ukip leader asked in a tweet what “Eton-educated David Cameron” parks his car in.

In his comments Bradshaw had asked voters not to trust “a combination of French fascists, Nigel Farage and Vladimir Putin” in the EU referendum debate and instead listen to Britain’s closest allies who were urging the UK to remain in the EU.
