David Beckham 'signs seven-figure Disney+ deal for TV show on young footballers'

David Beckham has reportedly set to make a new TV series about underprivileged young footballers for Disney+.

The legendary British footballer, 45, is said to have signed a seven-figure deal with the streaming service to make the new series.

A source told The Sun: "David was approached by Disney+ about making the show and he was very taken with the idea because it really reflects his own experiences growing up. Plus he’s still so committed to young talent in the game.

"He will be acting as a mentor figure to a group of young people growing up in the inner cities whose lives are being changed by football."

The paper adds that the streaming service was especially keen to cast David as the mentor due to his own life experiences and success.

They added: "It was a huge coup for Disney to get David on board."

David, who grew up in Leytonstone in East London, is also reported to be keen to share his passions with these young people, who will also have grown up in a underprivleged background.

It is noted that casting will begin this week in Hackney Marshes in East London, with filming on the show having been previously delayed.

The news comes following previous reports from October last year of David and his wife Victoria Beckham landing a £16million deal with streaming giant Netflix to produce their own series about their lives.

It is thought to tell the story of David's life and career and also make the most of the Beckham family's own personal archives of filmed moments from over the years.

It had been reported by The Sun that the show would also give exclusive access to the family's current projects.

There was said to be exclusive interviews with members of David's family, including his and Victoria's four children: Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and Harper Seven, nine.

The Mirror has approached Disney+ and representatives of David Beckham for comment on this story.
