Fresh woes for Beckhams as David's sister closes company amid Victoria backlash

Fresh woes have struck the Beckham family as David’s sister Joanne has announced the closure of her business in the midst of Victoria’s tumultuous affairs with her struggling fashion brand.

The spotlight has firmly been on troubled 46-year-old Vicky in recent days after she sparked a severe backlash for opting to use taxpayer money to pay for furloughed staff at her struggling fashion label – a decision she has since reversed following the strong reaction against her.

But now 38-year-old Joanne has announced the end of her high-end concierge service, WeAreYourCity, which offered clients advice on top shopping and dining spots along with sight-seeing tips for the cost of a £400-a-month bill.

The younger sister of 45-year-old David saw demand for her business dry up and the Mail reports the business has now been closed down.

A member of Jo’s team told the publication: “It’s very sad, but she couldn’t make it work.”

Joanne set up the business with footballer Jay Smith and the pair charged £4,000 per year for access to their database of top tips.

The Mail reports the pair were a good match for the business as Jo had access to “celebrities”, while Jay knew “sports personalities” and they quote Jay as bragging about business approaching them.

They quote him stating: “Some of them referred us to other brands, then other brands approached us — it grew pretty quickly.”

Business turned sour, however, and WeAreYourCity reportedly owed creditors £1,700.

The business was consequently "struck off the official register of businesses at Companies House," according to the Mail.

The collapse of the business is the latest in a string of bad luck for the Beckhams.

Earlier this week, Victoria was forced to abort plans to use taxpayer money to furlough staff at her fashion brand despite a reported family wealth of £335 million after a furious backlash was unleashed upon her.

Piers Morgan led the backlash against Vicky, branding her a "pampered prima donna" and declared her fashion empire a "failed vanity project".
