David Beckham's Inter Miami 'planning transfer raid' on Man Utd

David Beckham's Inter Miami are looking to bring out of favour Sergio Romero to the MLS.

The back-up Manchester United goalkeeper is desperate to secure a move away from Old Trafford.

He is one of four goalkeepers at the club but has David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Inter Miami are ready to offer him a route out of the Premier League club in January, reports the Athletic.

Beckham is hoping to use his United connections to begin adding big names to his American outfit.

Romero has been frozen out at Manchester having been omitted from the club's Premier League and Champions League squads.

The MLS season begins in March, but the 33-year-old's £100,000-a-week wages would prove challenging for Beckham's team.

United are open to selling the shotstopper but are keen to recoup some kind of fee for him.

Romero's contract is up in January meaning he can begin negotiating with clubs outside of England in the New Year.

United do have the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months however and may to do so if they don't want to lose him for nothing.

Everton had a £2m loan bid rejected with the Red Devils reluctant to strengthen a domestic rival.

Romero's wife has even taken to social media and asked United to let the Argentine leave.

She said: “It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. Respect for once.”

The goalkeeper has made 61 appearances during his five-and-a-half years with United.
