David Beckham's Inter Miami manager shortlist includes shock former Premier League boss

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes is on a shortlist of managers to lead David Beckham’s Inter Miami into the MLS next year.

Beckham and his fellow owners of the Florida club have stepped up their search for their first boss.

Inter Miami will enter the MLS in February after overcoming snags which included being knocked back over plans for a new stadium in the city.

They are forced to begin their new adventure in neighbouring Fort Lauderdale in a renovated 18,000-capacity Lockhart Stadium, which, when Beckham visited in March, was crumbling, while the former playing surface was full of weeds and bushes.

But already 8,000 season tickets have been sold as Beckham prepares for the dream of running his own football club.

Now he wants the right man to run the playing side and has been in talks with a number of candidates, including Moyes, Thierry Henry, Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti and former AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso.

Moyes is currently out of work, but is a regular visitor to South Florida, owning a property two hours’ drive from Miami.

Beckham believes the Scot endured a rough deal at United and would enjoy working in the USA.

The former England captain is big mates with Ancelotti, who he played for at AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. The Italian is still in charge of Napoli, though it’s understood he could consider jumping ship and moving to Florida.

Gattuso, who was a fiery team-mate at AC Milan, is out of work having left as AC Milan boss.

Ex-Gunner Henry is also in the frame and has extensive knowledge of the MLS as a player with New York Red Bulls.

Within the next few days Beckham will be hoping to announce his decision on the all-important first manager of the franchise.
