David Beckham's company has £16m profit slide before lending Victoria's firm money

David Beckham used to be able to turn much of what he touched into gold but latest profit figures show that he may be losing his touch.

The 44-year-old former England football captain has amassed a huge fortune from his entrepreneurial investments but it seems that 2018 was the year those instincts deserted him.

Beckham was once nicknamed 'Goldenballs' due to his ability with the football and off-the-field business dealings.

It has been reported that Becks' company, DB Ventures, has seen its profits halved in just 12 months, with them dropping from £23.2million in 2017 to £11.5million in 2018.

Brand Beckham is a global concern and DB Ventures was set up to capitalise on his popularity and to ensure that profits could be made from it.

A financial expert told The Sun: “This will be hugely embarrassing for the Beckhams, as it indicates they don’t quite have the same pulling power as they once did.

“If a regular company saw its profits more than halve, it would be a major crisis. But David is unlikely to be struggling to make ends meet.”

While the profits slide may be a difficult pill to swallow, it hasn't plunged the Beckhams into financial difficulties as from the profits, there was £11.1 million paid into Beckham Brand Holdings, the family business David owns with wife Victoria.

The newly released financial records also show that DB Ventures lent a further £600,000 to Victoria's fashion business.

This means that the sister company has benefited from £16.9 million over the years, which may become a cash drain that is difficult to maintain, especially if profits continue to slide in the David's company.

Mirror Online has contacted David Beckham's reps for a comment.
