David Beckham reveals family has been delivering care packages to the elderly

David Beckham has revealed that he and his famous family have been supporting the elderly during the coronavirus outbreak by delivering care packages.

In a series of videos posted on his Instagram Stories, the former footballer, 44, praised Age UK for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Over the last couple of weeks my family and I have been supporting older people in our community and finding out about the great work that Age UK is doing,” he told his followers.

“We’ve been able to help with brilliant programmes like delivering care packages in our local area and making friendship calls to people isolated by this awful situation.”

Beckham shared a heartfelt message on Instagram (@davidbeckham)

The sports star then revealed that he would be handing over his social media channels to Age UK “so that they can highlight the important work that they’ve been doing during the coronavirus outbreak” and so that fans “can find out how you may be able to help as well.”

As part of the social media takeover, Beckham’s Instagram Story was devoted to spotlighting volunteers working at food distribution centres, orgainsing food parcels and befriending isolated elderly people over the phone.

“We must all spare a thought for older people in these challenging times and do anything possible to help.”

His wife Victoria, 46, shared a photo of care packages in canvas tote bags on her Instagram Story, writing: “Like so many volunteers, we have been supporting the elderly in our community with care packages.”

The couple are thought to be isolating in their Cotswolds home with their three younger children, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight.
