David Beckham could appear on Celebrity Bake Off after showing off skills during lockdown

David Beckham could be showing off his golden buns on Celebrity Bake Off.

The ex-England and Manchester United ace spent most of lockdown doing what he loves most – baking.

And Talk TV hears casting bosses saw on social media what 45-year-old Becks was whipping up at home and got in touch with his representatives.

Becks – given his Goldenballs nickname by wife Victoria, 46 – is currently mulling over an offer to take part in the celebrity version of the Channel 4 show in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

A TV source says: “Signing David Beckham for the show really would be the icing on the cake.

“Everyone’s very excited about the prospect of him taking part.

“He was the name that a lot of the casting team had on their list at the very first meeting because of his love of cooking – especially baking – during lockdown. It’s for charity too, so they’re really hoping he can do it.”

David brushed up on his culinary skills while isolating at the family mansion in the Cotswolds with Victoria and kids Harper, nine, Cruz, 15, and Romeo, who turns 18 on Tuesday.

Eldest son Brooklyn, 21, spent most of lockdown with fiancée Nicola Peltz in New York.

Becks – who even got nostalgic recreating some of his mum’s old recipes – has spent years mastering his cooking skills as he travelled the world.

While on loan to AC Milan in 2010, he took Italian cookery classes.

And during a spell at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, he signed up for lessons in French cuisine. He has also been inspired in the kitchen by best mate Gordon Ramsay, 53.

The all-star version of the baking competition will go into production in the coming weeks, and will air early next year.

Bosses have just finished filming the regular show’s 11th series, fronted by Noel Fielding alongside comic Matt Lucas – who took over from Sandi Toksvig.

Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood are both back as judges.

The source adds: “Noel and Matt would have great fun if Becks were to go into the Bake Off tent. It would be TV gold.”

Hopefully Mr Bake-ham will rise to the occasion.
