David Beckham banned from driving for six months after using phone at wheel

David Beckham has received a driving ban and been fined £750 for using his phone while at the wheel of his £100k Bentley.

The former footballer was reported by a member of the public on November 21, after he was spotted committing the offence in West London.

He had been driving on Great Portland Street at the time.

Beckham, 44, appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court today (May 9) where he was given six-points on his driving licence. As he already had six points he is over the 12-point threshold for an automatic ban.

The former England captain had pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier date.

Beckham's case had been considered as a single justice procedure, prior to this, which is not open to the press and public.

But the hearing was adjourned to the same court on Thursday "to show cause" and was held in public.

The Sun reported a member of court staff, speaking after the last hearing, said: "The magistrates requested more information - either the circumstances in which it happened or they think they don't have enough information about the charge to make an informed decision."
