David Beckham admits ‘something’s missing’ amid ongoing rift with son Brooklyn

David Beckham has opened up about a lingering sense of loss in his life, saying “something’s missing” — as speculation around his strained relationship with son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz continues to grow.

In a new interview, the former England captain reflected on turning 50 and life after football, revealing he still misses the structure and drive of his playing days.

“I miss training every day. I miss playing every weekend,” Beckham admitted to Time Magazine. “Every day, I wake up and feel like something’s missing. Even at 50 years old, in my head, I can still play.”

The emotional reflection coincides with Brooklyn’s brief return to London earlier this week — a visit that brought him within half a mile of his father, but without a reunion.

Brooklyn, 26, was in the capital on Monday for a photoshoot with Italian fashion label Moncler, reportedly as part of a new six-figure ambassador deal alongside wife Nicola Peltz.

Despite being just minutes from the Beckham family home in Holland Park, he stayed in a Park Lane hotel and returned to the US the next morning.

At the same time, David was spotted at the nearby Chelsea Flower Show, speaking with King Charles and Queen Camilla — a near miss that has only added fuel to ongoing rumours of a family rift.

Tensions are said to stem from Brooklyn’s 2022 wedding and reported clashes between Victoria and Peltz. While the family has publicly downplayed any discord, sources suggest relations remain “distant.”

Elsewhere in the interview, David and Victoria gave fans a glimpse of their playful fitness rivalry.

“I let Victoria believe that she’s working harder,” David joked. “But I think I’m the one that’s working harder. Don’t tell her that.”

Victoria replied: “David does an hour in the gym, and I do an hour and 45 minutes, so I’ll let you make that decision.”

Despite the light-hearted moment, David’s comments suggest that some things — both on and off the pitch — still weigh heavily on his mind.
