David Attenborough's new documentary Life in Color drops on Netflix

Sir David Attenborough's documentary Life in Color has dropped on Netflix.

The series, which originally aired on the BBC, arrived on the streaming giant in the US on April 22, which is Earth Day.

It explores the vital role colour plays in the lives of animals, from using it to hide from enemies to winning over a mate.

The series uses specially-developed cameras to give viewers the animals' perspectives, and allows us to see colours that are usually invisible to human eyes, like the markings on fish and the bright colours on butterflies' wings.

Sir David says in the official trailer: "Animals can use colour for all different reasons whether to win a mate or beat a rival, to warn off an enemy or to hide from one.

"Colours so bold and brilliant they dazzle our senses."

The series originally aired on the BBC earlier this year.

UK viewers can still watch it on BBC iPlayer.

The trailer shows a variety of stunning animals, including a peacock fluttering its feathers to win a mate.

It also shows baboons fighting and tiny frogs wrestling and beautiful flocks of flamingos.
