David Attenborough is coming to Edinburgh to make a climate change plea

2019 has certainly been a year of 'eco-awareness': global protests took place calling on government's to take action on climate change, Greta Thunberg became Time Person of the Year and London was immoblised by Extinction Rebellion.

Now, Sir David Attenborough is set to visit Edinburgh in March 2020 to give an impassioned speech urging governments to take action against climate change.

Charity workers will be addressed by the naturalist and broadcaster at Edinburgh University's McEwan Hall at the People's Postcode Lottery's annual charity gala in the capital.

Sir David will be the guest of honour at the event.

Last year, George and Amal Clooney attended the gala and received an award in recognition of their human rights activism.

Clara Govier, managing director at the People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “Over the decades, Sir David has inspired generations of us to safeguard biodiversity and protect the planet.

“We are delighted he will be joining us in Edinburgh early next year, Sir David’s message is more important than ever.”
