David and Victoria Beckham praise healthcare workers on One World: Together At Home

David and Victoria Beckham praised healthcare workers around the world as they took part in the One World: Together At Home Special concert on Saturday.

The 44-year-old former footballer and the 46-year-old former Spice Girl took part in the music concert to introduce Sir Elton John who performed a rendition of I’m Still Standing as part of the concert organised by Lady Gaga.

Posh and Becks sat together as they beamed into the show form their home to offer some words of encouragement and thanks to those going out to battle coronavirus every day.

“It’s great to be able to join you for this amazing event and lend our support to the global community all coming together at this difficult time for our world,” David began.

The couple then said that they were grateful that the virus had brought them and their family closer together.

“If there is any silver lining to come out of this situation, it has meant lots of time together as a family and to this, we are grateful,” Dave said.

“We know there are people out there risking everything to keep us all safe. We want to join with all of you to say a huge thank you to them,” he went on.

Victoria expressed her thanks to doctors, nurses and medical staff for protecting children around the world.

“Our thanks goes to all of the healthcare workers all around the world who are working so, so hard, leaving their families to go to work to protect us and our children,” Victoria said.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” she went on.

Sir Elton, 73, also praised medical workers.

“This is for everybody out there who has been working on the front line,” he said.

“Thank you for your love, care, your humanity. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he added before launching into a vigorous performance.

Lady Gaga has gathered some of the biggest music acts in the world to perform on Saturday in the USA, with the grand final concert due to star airing at 1am BST on Sunday 19 April.

The show will air on the BBC on Sunday night from 7pm.
