David Alaba latest, Kylian Mbappe release clause and other Liverpool rumours rated

Liverpool cannot buy anyone until at least the beginning of January, but that does not mean the rumour mill will stop until then.

These are your Sunday transfer rumours rated as the Reds are linked with some big-name players - and have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star David Alaba.

There is also an update on Kylian Mbappe, plus the latest as Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head for a Barcelona starlet.

Mbappe contract condition

Who?

Kylian Mbappe, the superstar French forward.

What?

According to Diario AS, Mbappe is prepared to sign a new deal in Paris to stay with the Ligue 1 side.

However, the catch is a pretty big one: he will only do that if PSG agree to a release clause being inserted into the new contract.

That would mean he could leave should Liverpool, Real Madrid, or any other potential suiters, be able to stump up the fee.

Mbappe has reportedly already turned down three new contract offers from PSG, so they may choose to cave in and give him a release clause, rather than lose him on the cheap.

His current deal is thought to expire in the summer of 2022, leading to speculation over a cut-price move next summer.

Alaba 'blow'

Who?

Bayern Munich's versatile Austrian, David Alaba.

What?

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Juventus are leading the race to sign the player, who can play left-back, centre-back or in midfield.

Alaba, like Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum, can speak to clubs abroad over a free transfer move from January with his deal expiring at the end of the season.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and PSG are also thought to be chasing Alaba. So no big competition for him there then...

£18 million defender linked

Who?

Ruben Semedo, the Olympiacos centre-back.

What?

With so many injuries, links to central defenders are a given from now until January as every agent seeks to get their player a move, and clubs increase their valuations a little.

Portuguese TV network Sic Noticias, via the Daily Mirror, say that Liverpool will offer Semedo, 26, a five-year deal.

With two Portugal caps, Semedo has played for Sporting Lisbon and Villarreal in the past and moved to Greece in July 2019.

Barcelona teenager race

Who?

Alejandro Balde, who is among the Barcelona youth ranks.

What?

Liverpool and Chelsea are set to battle it out for the 17-year-old, who is reportedly set to be fast-tracked into the Barcelona first team and has been compared with another starlet in Ansu Fati.

Balde is, though, a left-back, rather than a forward, so those comparisons are slightly bizarre.

Spanish outlet SPORT claim that Chelsea and Liverpool have both approached the youngster’s representation to discuss a potential move, however, and he is very highly-rated.
