David Alaba fit for Champions League final as Real Madrid name squad for Liverpool showdown

David Alaba is set to play in the Champions League final after being named in Real Madrid’s matchday squad for the clash with Liverpool.

Carlo Ancelotti has picked all of his entire senior players to travel to France for Saturday’s showdown after initial fears over Austrian defender Alaba and Marcelo.

A muscle issue has plagued the former Bayern Munich man in recent weeks but in recent days he has seen out a number of training sessions alongside his teammates without issue to make the squad.

A list of 26 players was named by Madrid on Thursday ahead of their flight to Paris, with Gareth Bale on the plane for a potentially decisive swansong appearance.

Eden Hazard and Isco also feature in the travelling party after recent issues, the Belgian winger having undergone a minor operation to remove a metal plate from his fibula.

“The coach knows that I still have two years here,” Hazard told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws ahead of the game.

“The first three years have not gone well. I want to show everyone what I can do. I am focusing on Saturday - the Champions League final against Liverpool - and continue my preparation for the season that's coming.”

Full Real Madrid squad:

GK: Courtois, Lunin, Fuidias.

DEF: Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Vallejo, Nacho, Marcelo, Mendy.

MID: Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Valverde, Vazquez, Ceballos, Isco, Camavinga.

ATT: Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Jovic, Bale, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Mariano.
