David Alaba boost and Perr Schuurs tracked in Liverpool transfer rumours rated

Given that we’re into November, it’s now accurate to say that the winter transfer window will be opening the month after next.

With Liverpool suffering centre-back troubles – particularly the long-term injury absence of key man Virgil van Dijk – perhaps the opportunity to draft in a new recruit can’t come soon enough for the reigning Premier League champions.

Here’s a round-up of the latest Reds-related speculation swirling around the internet on the transfer tittle-tattle trail.

Who?

David Alaba, the versatile Austrian international who plays for Bayern Munich.

Born in Vienna but brought up through the ranks by the Bavarians, he has spent his entire career to date in Munich save for a loan spell alongside Roberto Firmino at Hoffenheim back in 2011.

The 28-year-old can operate as a centre-back, left-back or holding midfielder.

Where?

A report in the Express claims that Alaba is believed to be a target for Liverpool either for January or next summer but citing Calciomercato they say the Reds could miss out on him because he has been offered to Real Madrid as he representatives look to find him a new club.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside suggest Liverpool could actually have been handed a potential Alaba boost after they quote Bayern president Herbert Hainer as saying their new contract offer to the player has been withdrawn.

Herr Hainer told BR24Sport: “The answer was that the offer is still unsatisfactory and that we should think further.

“Now we have decided to take the offer off the table completely. That means: There is no more offer.”

What?

Jurgen Klopp obviously keeps a keen eye on Bundesliga proceedings and has already prised Thiago Alcantara away from Liverpool’s successors as European champions this year.

Alaba’s ability to play in more than one position plus his potential bargain status make him an attractive proposition so there could be more twists and turns in this saga over the coming weeks.

Who?

Perr Schuurs, the latest young gem to emerge from the prolific Ajax conveyor belt of talent.

The 20-year-old centre-back – snapped up from Fortuna Sittard in 2018 – has worked his way into the Amsterdam outfit’s senior side following Matthijs de Ligt’s switch to Juventus.

Where?

The Mirror claims that Liverpool are monitoring Schuurs after his recent outstanding Champions League display against them.
It’s pointed out that the player came to Anfield for a trial as a 17-year-old and he’s now back on the Reds radar.

What?
Liverpool look odds on to dip into the market for a centre-back in January but it’s perhaps still a bit early to claim that they’ll be going Dutch again.
