David Abraham goes to the source

Sir Jeremy Isaacs

David Abraham must have really wanted that job. Sir Jeremy Isaacs, Channel 4's founding chief executive, told BBC Radio 4's Media Show today that he'd been phoned up by Abraham after he was confirmed in the job last Friday. Abraham introduced himself as the new chief executive and asked Isaacs out for lunch. At least he seemed to understand what Channel 4 was about, conceded Isaacs, who called him a "cautious and sensible appointment". Abraham is expected to start at Channel 4 by May. It is not clear whether he has yet spoken to the runner up, Kevin Lygo, always a favourite of outgoing chairman Luke Johnson.
