Dave Portnoy yet again proves he just says words and has no idea what he’s talking about

You may know Dave Portnoy as the guy who thinks he knows everything about pizza or as the inventor of Barstool Sports. I know him as the man who just says words and thinks he’s smart. It’s all relevant to each other.

Portnoy decided he wanted to comment on the Jimmy Kimmel news of late and it has reminded many of us that Portnoy really does just say things and not look into whether or not he is correct, knows what he is talking about, or understands how the world works. In Kimmel’s case, it was a triple Whammy of Portnoy’s “just yapping” ways.

The tweet in question was posted on September 17 and reads as follows: “With Kimmel getting canned I’m seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if Kimmel got canceled for shit he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture. But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that’s not cancel culture. That is consequences for your actions.”

A couple of things, Dave

Portnoy writes that Kimmel was canned. That never happened. His show was placed on hiatus but there was no news that Kimmel was getting fired from the show or that the show was cancel. The news was that the show was on an indefinite pause and with how words work, that is decidedly different than getting fired or having the show get canceled.

Then comes the “cancel culture” garbage. It is an exhausting conversation that we end up going in circles with. Most of the people who have been “canceled” are facing the consequences of their actions. Sometimes, things do go too far for no reason. But what Portnoy is describing is neither cancel culture nor is it relevant.

Basically, he’s agreeing with infringing on the right to free speech. Maybe if someone told him that the President of the United States said he was no longer allowed to talk about pizza, he’s realize that this isn’t “cancel” culture but an attack on our amendments but that’s asking a lot of Portnoy.

Look, I guess when your entire gimmick is saying things that are wrong and ignoring when people point out how wrong you are, it shouldn’t be surprising that the two brain cells you have rubbing together make you tweet uninformed nonsense. But this tweet about the Kimmel situation really is the definition of a word salad that amounts to nothing.

So, if you’ve ever thought to yourself “I’m going to use Portnoy as a source in my argument,” I’d have to advise you against referencing the kind of nonsense words. Please, for my sanity and your own brain cells.
