Dave King wants shock Rangers board return as Douglas Park and Co told of largest shareholder's intentions

Former Rangers chairman Dave King wants to become a board member at the club once again.

The South Africa-based businessman stepped down in March 2020 to look after other interests in the midst of the Covid pandemic and was replaced by Douglas Park.

But he's remained the largest shareholder at Ibrox with a stake of 15.45 per cent - and is said to be plotting a shocking comeback.

He has already informed the current board of his intentions but recent weeks have seen him make a number of claims regarding the Ibrox hierarchy.

King told the Scottish Sun: "Now that my business interests in South Africa have stabilised following the devastations of Covid, I have advised the board of RIFC plc that I am available to rejoin the board and offer my services to the further development of the club.

"I remain the largest shareholder of RIFC and look forward to many years of service to the club and, most importantly, to its supporters."

King recently blasted the decision not to permit Chris Sutton entry to Ibrox as part of BT Sport’s broadcasting crew.

He also spoke out against details in the club’s annual accounts he found to be “incorrect” and recently told Record Sport he had a “moral obligation” to vote against Graeme Park’s re-election as a director.
