Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl gave a Las Vegas crowd the fright of their lives when he took a nasty tumble off stage.

The rock and roll icon was captured by a fan at the band's first gig of the year after slipping backwards off the stage mid-way through the show.

A fan handed the frontman a can of beer during a guitar solo. But after knocking it back he attempted to clamber back up onto the main stage before failing to get his footing and almost landing on a speaker.

Security flocked to the star to help him regain his balance before pushing him up onto the main stage with the rest of the band.

Grohl’s fall comes after he famously broke his leg in Sweden back in 2015 following a nasty stage fall.

At the time, he impressed concert-goers when he causally announced that he thought he'd broken his leg but wanted to carry on.

Despite his leg bandaged up he attempted to finish the concert sitting in a chair, telling his fans: “I may not be able to walk or run but I can still play guitar and scream."

The injury led to the group having to pull out of their headline Glastonbury slot in the same year.

The group also went on to cancel a string of dates including two nights at Wembley Stadium.

Dave Grohl breaks leg

Last year Grohl trolled fans in Sweden by pretending to fall off stage and break his leg again.

As the group took to the stage it appeared Grohl had run across the platform and fallen off the platform.

However, it was revealed a few moments later that it was in fact a look-alike stuntman, with Grohl emerging on the stage alongside the band.

The Foo Fighters eventually stepped onto the Pyramid Stage in 2017 as the headline act at Glastonbury.
