There is a change on the Lions off-field staff after head athletic trainer Kevin Bastin announced on Thursday he is stepping away from the NFL and the team.
Bastin has been the Lions’ head trainer for the last five years. He has decided to pursue a different career path outside of football.
Taking over as the new head trainer is Dave Granito, who comes to the Lions from the University of Michigan. Granito has NFL experience with both the New York Giants and New England Patriots prior to joining the UM staff.
The Lions thanked Bastin for his service in a press release which also announced Granito as his successor.
