Dave Cormack in thinly-veiled Rangers ref row pop as Aberdeen supremo's Don Robertson dig goes down a storm

Dave Cormack has taken a thinly-veiled pop at Rangers row ref Don Robertson following his weekend controversy. The Aberdeen chairman took to social media to post a video clip of a kids game from abroad where a counter attack is stopped by a cynical foul.

It comes after Malky Mackay was left furious that no action was taken against James Sands, already on a booking, when he hauled down Ross County’s Jordy Hiwula as the Staggies striker raced away on the break at Ibrox. The game was scoreless at the time but the visitors went on to lose 4-0.

Pittodrie supremo Cormack posted a clip of a similarly cynical foul from the youngsters’ game, joking: “Couldn’t resist this cracking video from the cinch Under-8s, allegedly. Counter-attack in full view of the referee but… nothing to see here so play play on! Just another week in the cinch, the most authentic league in the world. Vive la cinch & Vive la VAR.”

Cormack tagged BBC Sportscene in his tweet with the pundits on the highlights show insisting USA international Sands should have been sent off. Michael Stewart said it was “ludicrous” and “incredible” that he didn’t see red. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men went on to win the match 4-0.

Fans lapped up Cormack’s tweet. One wrote: “Awesome Davie boy. Were one of the Old Firm the defending team?” Another said: “Hahhaha magic. Dave. Looks like Ibrox.” But one warned: “You may get into trouble for that one.”
