Dave Cormack in defiant Aberdeen transfer message as Pittodrie chief makes Scott McKenna vow

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack insists players will not be sold on the cheap this summer.

The Dons have fended off interest in Scott McKenna in recent windows, while the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Sam Cosgrove are also likely to attract interest.

The coronavirus shutdown has hit budgets across the country, but Aberdeen won't be looking to cash in on their prize assets.

Cormack told Sky Sports News : "There's no way that we will sell any player for less than what we think is market value.

"Now, market value today versus a year ago may be different, but there's absolutely no way that we are going to sanction any player going on the cheap.

"We just won't do that and that's just a policy we will have as a board.

"We're fully expecting all of our players to play a part next season, obviously if there's a reasonable offer comes in for a player then we will of course consider that and consider what the player wants to do as well."

Aberdeen will compete in the Europa League next season if the Scottish Cup cannot be completed, having finished fourth in the Premiership.

They could also qualify via the cup, with a semi-final against Celtic still to come.
