Dave Cormack 'handed Celtic row warning' as SFA slap down Aberdeen chief over Kristoffer Ajer claim

The SFA have reportedly issued a written warning to Dave Cormack after the new Aberdeen chief accused Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer of "feigning injury".

The Dons supremo was left furious with the Norwegian following his club's defeat at Parkhead in December.

Sam Cosgrove was red carded for a reckless challenge on Ajer during Aberdeen's 2-1 loss and that provoked a response from Cormack on Twitter as he urged the SFA to "review Ajer feigning injury... and miraculous recovery after Sam gets the red".

According to The Daily Mail , the governing body's compliance officer Clare Whyte chose not to punish Cormack after Aberdeen insisted the comments were the chairman's personal opinion and not that of the Pittodrie club.

It's said, however, that a warning letter has been issued to the US-based businessman over his future conduct.

Following the incident, Celtic boss Neil Lennon branded Cormack's allegation "disgraceful".

He said: "It’s absolutely embarrassing. I’m not having that at all.

" Kris Ajer is the victim in this, he was on the end of a very heavy challenge. There was no feigning injury, there was no play acting.

"Kris Ajer is a model professional and I’m not having somebody from the Aberdeen board - or anyone else - talking about my players like that.

"First of all it’s not true, it’s a lie, and second of all these things should be kept in-house.

"We’ve been very balanced on the issue, we’ve tried to play it down, but when you see comments like that coming from the chairman of Aberdeen we’re not tolerating it as a club and I’m certainly not as a manager.

"He’s a player I think every club in this country would want in their team, he’s a model professional on and off the field and I think it’s very naive from Mr Cormack.

"It’s an attack on my player and he’s done absolutely nothing wrong, absolutely nothing.

"The comments are absolutely disgraceful."

Cormack has since deleted the post from his Twitter account.
