Dave Cormack gives Stephen Glass his backing in spiky Aberdeen defence

Dave Cormack has vowed not to sack Stephen Glass as Aberdeen boss so soon as he took to the airwaves to insist the under fire manager will be given more time.

The Dons chairman was told to pull the trigger by an unhappy away end when his side slumped to a fifth successive defeat at Dundee on Saturday night.

That has Aberdeen seriously struggling in ninth place despite bringing in some big signings such as former Celtic captain Scott Brown and Scotland-capped defenders David Bates and Declan Gallagher.

They've also crashed out of Europa Conference League qualifying and the Premier Sports Cup to Championship Raith Rovers in Glass' reign so far but Cormack insists it's too early for calls to dismiss his man.

In a somewhat spiky exchange on BBC Sportsound, he said: "We've no intention of making any change so early.

"We believe in the coaches and players and they will rectify the situation. That's where we are."

Cormack insists events at other clubs proves why his patient approach is right.

"This time a year ago," he added, "Hibs fans were calling for Jack Ross to go.

"The Hearts fans after Brora Rangers and the Alloa defeat were protesting to get Robbie Neilson out and look where they are.

"From my perspective, and I'll take responsibility, we're nine games in. 29 to go. The board and the whole playing team believe in Stephen."
