The first injury report of Week 5 delivered good news and bad news for the Green Bay Packers.
While right tackle Bryan Bulaga (shoulder), defensive lineman Montravius Adams (shoulder) and linebacker Oren Burks (chest) all practiced on Wednesday, the Packers were without receiver Davante Adams (toe), cornerback Kevin King (groin), cornerback Tony Brown (hamstring), running back Jamaal Williams (concussion) and outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell (shoulder) – putting into question the availability of all five for Sunday’s trip to play the Dallas Cowboys.
Bulaga’s abililty to practice Wednesday is a positive sign. The Packers will need him and left tackle David Bakhtiari to protect the edges for Aaron Rodgers and the passing game in Dallas.
The return of Montravius Adams and Burks could also be significant as the Packers prepare to face All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott.
However, winning in Dallas would become even more difficult if Davante Adams and King can’t play. Adams is the team’s leading receiver, while King has been impressive at times as the No. 2 cornerback behind Jaire Alexander.
Adams injured his toe late in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday night. King departed in the second half with a groin injury. It’s possible both players will need to miss a game to get healthy enough to returm.
The Packers did list receiver Jake Kumerow as a full participant, which could help steady the passing game if Adams can’t play.
The Cowboys were without right tackle La’el Collins, left tackle Tyron Smith and defensive end Tyrone Crawford on Wednesday.
The Packers will provide participation updates on Thursday and Friday before declaring official injury designations on Friday afternoon.
