Daughter accused of stabbing mum to death filmed attack's aftermath, court hears

A daughter accused of stabbing her mother to death filmed the aftermath of the attack on her phone, a court heard.

Hanna Bennis is said to have knifed Aziza Bennis over 30 times in Boddington Gardens, Acton, West London, on August 15.

After the alleged attack on the school dinner lady, emergency services, including an air ambulance, scrambled to the scene but despite their best efforts to save her the mum-of-two was pronounced dead.

Two days later mum Bennis was charged with murdering the 58-year-old.

But in the aftermath of the alleged attack, police found a video on Bennis’ mobile showing the scene after the killing, the court heard.

Joel Smith, prosecuting, said: “She pans the camera around the lounge showing her mother covered in blood.

“She then shows the blood-stained knife to the camera.” Mr Smith added that Bennis had a “volatile relationship” with her mother.

Neighbours reportedly heard “screams and sounds of a disturbance” coming from the address and Aziza said “Please don’t hurt me!”

Mr Smith told the court at one point Bennis could be heard saying “I’m sorry, I’m sorry”.

When police attended the scene they found the victim collapsed in the lounge and a blood-stained knife, the court was told.

Wearing a dark top with her hair tied back Bennis appeared in court via videolink from HMP Bronzefield speaking to confirm her date of birth as she sat a table with her arms crossed.

Mr Smith said a postmortem revealed Aziza had been stabbed more than 30 times.

Judge Philip Katz, QC, remanded Bennis in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 4 November and fixed her trial for 31 July next year.

Bennis, of Uxbridge Road, Ealing, faces one charge of murder.
