Dating app trap: four plead guilty to Cardiff robbery and brutal sword attack

GUILTY: Corey Hicks used a large sword to fracture a man's skull at Cardiff.

THREE men and a woman have admitted they lured a man, 48, looking for sex on popular online classifieds website into a dating app trap, catching him with his pants down when they stormed into his house at Cardiff and struck him over the head with a large sword.

Mitchell Neil Sullivan, 34, Corey Hicks, 23, Adam Shortland, 19, and Alexandra Dwyer, 25, all pleaded guilty to robbery in company in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday after the DPP agreed to withdraw other more serious charges.

The group will next appear in Newcastle District Court next month to get a sentence date.

Dwyer liaised with the man via the website and contacted the others to commit the robbery in the early hours of January 12 this year.

"Make ure (sic) thos (sic) boys understand we are about to robb (sic) this c--- at his home," Dwyer texted Sullivan.

Hicks was armed with the sword and immediately used it to strike the victim in the head, fracturing his skull.
