A series of drive-through coronavirus testing centres will return to Sefton in November, as the virus continues to spread throughout the region.
Sefton’s infection rate has decreased – now 412 per 100,000 residents, with 1139 coronavirus cases recorded between October 17-23.
But while the number is moving in the right direction, health chiefs have warned against complacency.
Liverpool’s Director of Public Health Matt Ashton warned: “It is really vital we are not complacent and keep hammering home the messages about the importance of everybody social distancing, wearing a face covering in enclosed spaces, getting tested if you have symptoms, and self-isolating if you are asked to do so.
“It is the only way to control this pandemic.”
Sefton, along with the entire region, remains under the toughest lockdown restrictions, and will do so until at least November 11, when a government review is due to take place.
As well as the walk-through test centres at Southport and Bootle town halls, Crosby Library, and Netherton Activity Centre, there will be mobile coronavirus testing units across Sefton throughout October.
Walk-through test centres are open every day from 8am to 8pm, providing “easy access to tests” for people who do not have access to a car and for those who have symptoms and should not travel by public transport.
