Date set into hearing for Wallsend bar police say is out of control

The fate of a crime-hit Wallsend bar will be decided next week.

Northumbria Police claim The Barking Dog is out of control; Lock-ins are regularly staged with violence rife.

One 18th birthday party allegedly ended with "blood on the floor of the bar area and in the men's toilet" following a brawl.

As such, the force called for a review of the venue's licence. North Tyneside Council say that will now be staged on March 20.

Previously management at the bar branded the allegations a "load of rubbish".

However, a council spokesperson has told ChronicleLive that nobody at the venue has made any representations to the claims ahead of the hearing.

That was called for after months of negotiations between police and bosses at the Kings Road North bar ultimately did little to curb the trouble and bring the venue up to scratch.

The police were informed things would improve - this has not been the case," adds the public report.

"There continues to be lock-ins, people on pub watch being served alcohol as well as the continued incidents, escalating in severity."

The report also claims it is "well known" that children bought booze at the bar- then went to the concert room to drink it.

However, designated supervisor Christine Dunn previously claimed that "90%" of the allegations are false.

"We have always tried to be honest with (the police) and we have nothing to hide," she told ChronicleLive.
