Date for Nottingham Forest's Carabao Cup trip to face Arsenal confirmed

The date for Nottingham Forest's Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal has been confirmed by the Football League.

Sabri Lamouchi's side saw off local rivals Derby County in the second round of the competition to earn themselves a place in the third round draw.

Goals from Joe Lolley, Albert Adomah and the returning Joao Carvlaho fired the Reds to victory on Trentside and they have been rewarded with a trip to the Emirates Stadium later this month.

Arsenal and Forest have history, with the Reds dumping the Gunners out of the FA Cup the last time the two sides met with an memorable 4-2 victory.

The clash will also see defender Carl Jenkinson line-up against his former employers for the first time since his £2m move to the City Ground this summer.

And the Football League have now confirmed that the clash will take place at 7.45pm on Tuesday, September 24 and will not be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Instead, European champions Liverpool will see their clash with MK Dons broadcast live on Wednesday evening, while fierce south-coast rivals Southampton and Portsmouth will also be given the big-match treatment by broadcasters on the Tuesday.

The Reds have not beaten Arsenal in north London since 1989 when Brian Clough's side came out 3-1 winners at Highbury.
