Date for Leeds United's Carabao Cup clash with Hull City confirmed as first week of season is mapped out

Leeds United will take on Hull under the lights at Elland Road on Wednesday, September 16 the club have this afternoon confirmed.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will kick-off their 2020/21 season away at Liverpool on Saturday before playing host to the Tigers four days later with the game kicking off at 7:45pm.

After winning promotion to the Premier League, the Whites received a bye for the first round of the competition and entered at the second stage.

Should the Whites beat the Tigers, who were relegated from the Championship to League One last season, they will visit London in the third round.

Third round matches will be played during the week commencing September 21 and the Whites will visit either West Ham United or Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks were also relegated to League One last season, but did inflict one of United’s few defeats at The Valley in 2019/20.

The Hammers will play Bielsa’s side in the league at Elland Road on December 12 before hosting them on March 6.

The last time the Whites faced Hull, a brace from Tyler Roberts and goals from Luke Ayling and Pablo Hernandez secured Leeds a 4-0 victory at the KCOM Stadium.

The game has not been selected for live TV coverage by Sky Sports, with the broadcaster opting to show Burton Albion vs Aston Villa on Tuesday, West Brom vs Harrogate Town and Everton vs Salford City on Wednesday, with Brighton vs Portsmouth concluding the coverage on Thursday night.
