Date confirmed for Liverpool's New Balance kit court ruling with lucrative Nike offer in limbo

The future of Liverpool's kit deal is set to be decided tomorrow when a judge decides whether New Balance or Nike have rights to the lucrative contract.

The club are keen to end their seven year partnership with the Boston based firm when the current deal ends in May .

New Balance's lawyers say a clause in the existing contract gives them the right to match any offer from a competitor – and claim the firm has done exactly that.

Liverpool , however, rejected New Balance's renewal and claimed the company had no chance of matching Nike's enormous distribution network.

The club also say Nike's offer of three “non-football global superstar athletes and influencers of the calibre of LeBron James, Serena Williams and Drake” is out of New Balance's reach.

The stand-off resulted in New Balance filing papers at the Commercial Court, a branch of the High Court, and a three day trial which ended on Tuesday.

High Court Judge Mr Justice Nigel Teare has been preparing his answer since then and the parties will learn his decision in the morning.

According to the High Court the judgement will be handed down after 10.30am.
