Learn how to spot visual stories in data and create captivating infographics at this interactive course with Rob Orchard and Christian Tate from the Slow Journalism Company. Over the course of the day, you’ll learn how to find, analyse and present data in accessible and attractive ways. Whether you want to create a beautiful presentation, pitch an infographic story to an editor or take your design skills to the next level, you’ll leave with the skills and confidence to transform raw data into beautiful visual stories.

Please note – although our tutors will discuss some of the different digital tools available for data visualisation, this is not a software training course. Practical exercises will be carried out using pen and paper
Tutor profiles
Christian Tate is the art director of the Slow Journalism Company, publishers of Delayed Gratification magazine. He has also created infographics for organisations including the BBC, Mazda and Empire Magazine, and one of his designs won the silver prize for data visualisation at last year’s Information is Beautiful awards. Rob Orchard is the editorial director of the Slow Journalism Company, where he works in partnership with Christian to bring together datasets to tell fascinating stories through infographics. Over the course of his career, Rob has launched and ran magazines for Virgin Atlantic, created the Middle East’s biggest travel magazine and worked as the editor of Time Out Dubai, Time Out Croatia and Time Out Paris.
