Dashcam footage has captured the moment a van lost its wheel on the busy motorway. Police shared the clip, which showed a white van travelling in the left lane on the M60 in Manchester on Wednesday (January 25).
The wheel can be seen bouncing across the lanes and over onto the exit lane, narrowly missing an oncoming car. Sparks can also be seen flying where the van is scraping along the road.

The driver was then able to pull over to safety onto the hard shoulder of the motorway after the incident. Greater Manchester Police's traffic division shared the shocking clip to warn road users of the importance of using the left-hand lane unless overtaking.

They wrote on Twitter: "An excellent example of why we tell you to use lane one unless overtaking. This van lost its wheel earlier today on the M60 but luckily the driver was in lane one so could get over to the hard shoulder with no issues."
Others shared their reaction to the video, as one person wrote: "Blimey. That was close." Another tweeted: "Good job there was a hard shoulder so the van could stop safely."
