Daryl Horgan set for Wycombe transfer as Hibs winger heads for Championship return

Daryl Horgan is set to leave Hibs for English Championship outfit Wycombe.

Jack Ross confirmed ahead of the Hibees’ home defeat to Aberdeen that the Irish winger had been left out due to a deal being imminent, but wouldn’t confirm which club.

However, Record Sport understands the Chairboys are the former Preston North End man’s destination.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and had been in talks with Gareth Ainsworth’s side for the past couple of weeks.

Ross moved over the weekend to secure Jamie Murphy on an initial loan from Rangers and the former Motherwell man made his debut as a second half sub against the Dons.

His arrival has paved the way for Horgan to head south, where he will join up with former Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu at Adams Park.

“It's likely that Horgan will leave in the coming days,” said Ross. “It's been in the pipeline for a couple of weeks so we needed to have enough cover for that.

“Jamie coming in gives us that extra wide player again, so it's not padding out the squad, it's really just replacement and giving us another option.

“He hasn't even met the group because obviously we didn't train yesterday so he's still catching up fitness-wise but it was nice to get him on the pitch today and he will be an asset for us going forward.

“There's been some interest in Daryl for a few weeks from a club in England and that has accelerated so it looks like that may happen, we'll see in the coming days but in anticipation of that, we've had to make sure we were prepared for it and bringing Jamie in is our way of doing that.”
