Daryl Gurney is through to the last 16 at the PDC World Championship after an emphatic 4-1 win over Chris Dobey.
The Derry native booked his place with a confident showing after racing out of the blocks by taking the first three sets. Dobey took the fourth set before Gurney finished off the match in the fifth.
Gurney, 34, admitted that he has struggled to hit top form of late but averaged 101 at the Alexandra Palace today and produced two 13-dart finishes and an 11-darter in the second set.
"It's about time the real Daryl Gurney turned up, I've been rubbish this year since the UK Open," Gurney told Sky Sports.
"In previous tournaments I've been letting myself down, so here I kept saying to myself to keep on doing what you're doing and play your own game and don't do what stupid Daryl does...someone hits a 180 and you snatch the first dart and don't hit a treble."
Dutch World No 27 Vincent van der Voort awaits in the last 16 after Gurney's 3-2, 3-1, 3-2, 1-3, 3-0 victory over World No 22 Dobey.
