Liverpool are now heavy favourites with the bookmakers to secure the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. With Sadio Mane set to depart the club, a replacement is being looked at with intent.
In order to secure the 22-year-old, Liverpool may have to break their record transfer fee - which is currently set at the £75 million spent on Virgil van Dijk back in January 2018.
Plenty of reports in Portugal on Wednesday have indicated Liverpool are willing to move fast to secure the signing of Nunez ahead of the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle United.

On Sky Bet, Liverpool are heavy favourites to sign the Benfica star as their odds fell to 1/8 with bitter rivals United next in line at 4/1. It has been reported Nunez would favour a move to Anfield in order to play Champions League football under Jurgen Klopp.
Paris Saint Germain are third favourites to sign the Uruguay star as they are priced at 22/1 to add him to their list of attackers alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
It came to light on Wednesday in reports from Portugal that Liverpool could be on the verge of an official offer for Nunez, but are unwilling to be dragged into a bidding war with United.
