Darwin Nunez 'likes' Liverpool tweets as £85m Benfica move nears completion

Darwin Nunez has already started showing his approval on social media over his expected move to Liverpool.

The Reds have reached an agreement with Benfica for the transfer of the 22-year-old. The Portuguese club confirmed in the early hours of Monday morning that a deal worth a potential £85m (€100m) had been struck.

It will see Liverpool pay €75m (£64.1m) plus a possible further €25m (£21.3m) in add-ons. It is understood that Nunez will sign a six-year contract until the summer of 2028.

The Uruguay international will now undergo his medical ahead of the Reds announcing the transfer. He is set to become Liverpool’s second summer signing, following the arrival of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.

The Reds are yet to formally confirm the deal, but Nunez has already been taking to Twitter to express his approval. While not tweeting anything, he has liked a couple of tweets relating to his move.

One of the tweets was simply about a deal being agreed between Liverpool and Benfica. Another featured a photo of himself and fellow Uruguayan and former Reds hero Luis Suarez, along with the caption, 'Liverpool's past and Liverpool's future'.

The Reds, meanwhile, are expecting Bayern Munich to lodge a third, improved bid for Sadio Mane in the coming days as they hold out for nearer £42.75m for the Senegalese international.
