A Darvel man has been warned his offending behaviour “may have reached the end of the road” when he appeared in the dock.
Craig Wheelan pleaded guilty when he appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court to acting in an aggressive manner towards his former partner in the early hours of October 28.
The court heard how Wheelan, 40, and the woman had previously been in a long-term relationship.
Wheelan attended at the woman’s Darvel address late on Sunday evening.
Following an argument, Wheelan became aggressive and smashed the home telephone off the wall of the living room within the property.
The court heard how Wheelan, of John Morton Crescent, then “made his way towards the television in the living room” which was wall mounted.
“He removed it from the wall with such force that he almost removed the fire place as well,” the prosecutor added.
“He continued to shout and swear, saying: ‘you’re getting done in’.”
Shortly afterwards, police attended and “observed the accused in an intoxicated state and damage to the telephone and television set.”
The prosecutor told how Wheelan “continued to shout and swear at police witnesses.”
His defending agent told the court that the incident had been part of an “ongoing argument and exchange between the parties.”
However, Sheriff Alastair Watson told Wheelan: “You have a record that’s building up.
“The court has tried fining you and fining you and here you are in trouble again.
“The question is whether we have reached the end of the road now or not.”
Sentence was deferred on the matter until December.
