Darvel in gr-eight form while Cumnock clinch second round spot – Ayrshire Scottish Cup round-up

Ayrshire laid down a Scottish Cup marker as the region's four West of Scotland League (WoSFL) clubs marched into the second round.

Auchinleck Talbot, Cumnock, Darvel and Kilwinning Rangers clinched their spots in the draw thanks to a combined 18-5 aggregate victory this weekend.

The WoSFL Premier Division quartet remain on the road to Hampden and they know anything is possible depending on the luck of the draw.

Darvel were the most emphatic winners as they thrashed East of Scotland League Premier Division outfit Tynecastle 8-0 at Recreation Park.

There were actually eight different goalscorers with Daryll Meggatt, Craig Truesdale, Lewis Morrison, Allan Mackenzie, Darren Miller, Thomas Reilly, Jordan Allan and Craig Moore all netting.

Beaming boss Michael Kennedy told Doon the Brae TV: "I thought some of our play was excellent and some of the goals were really good. I'm happy with the performance and happy to be in the next round."

Cumnock manager Brian McGinty won't stop anyone at Townhead Park dreaming after his side beat Highland League Keith 2-1 at Kynoch Park.

Jordan Moore's penalty opener was wiped out by Keith's Matthew Tough but Greg Ferry won it for 'Nock.

McGinty told Cumnock FC's YouTube channel: "I thought in the first half we really dominated the game and played some great stuff.

"When you see what teams at this level have done in the cup before, in a one-off game at this early stage you would take a draw against anybody.

"We're looking forward to the draw and the main thing was getting through to the next round."

Kilwinning Rangers fought back from 2-0 down to beat Lowland League Tranent 4-2 at Buffs Park.

Goals from Shaun Rutherford and Ben Miller had the East Lothian cracks cruising inside the opening 20 minutes.

However, Mark Lamont and Dylan Mackin's spot-kick ensured it was level at the break with Kieran Wood and another Mackin penalty sealing Kilwinning's passage into round two.

On Friday night, Auchinleck Talbot beat Syngenta of the East of Scotland League 4-2 at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview.

Aaron Mason, Keir Samson's brace and a Jamie Glasgow strike saw off the battling hosts as Auchinleck showed they mean business in the cup again.
