Darvel FC receive hilarious tip from young fan ahead of Scottish Cup clash with Aberdeen

Darvel FC have received a hilarious tip from a young fan ahead of their Scottish Cup clash with Aberdeen this evening. The West of Scotland Premier League champions are hoping to pull of one of the biggest shocks in the history of the cup as they take on the Scottish Premiership side in East Ayrshire.

Their boss Mick Kennedy will be hoping to motivate the players ahead of the fourth round tie as they prepare for arguably the biggest game in their history.

However, the club have revealed they have also received some inspiration from some young supporters. Kids at Darvel Primary School sent in heartwarming cards with messages of encouragement for the players.

And while most of the cards had messages like "you've got this" and "best of luck" - one cheeky lad had other ideas. Little Jacob had the club in stitches as he wrote: "To Darvel F.C. Fly kick Aberdeen! From Jacob".

Posting a picture of their card on their Facebook page, the club replied: "Not sure the referee will allow us to do this Jacob but we'll do our best to win the game for you."

Meanwhile another confident fan, named Ben, said: "Come on the Darvel. You can smash Aberdeen 10-0." The club replied: "No pressure, huh Ben?"

In a later post, they added: "Our young supporters at Darvel Primary School are fantastic and we have loved reading through their kind and heartwarming cards. On Monday, the team will give it everything to make you all proud."

Darvel take on Aberdeen at Recreation Park at 7.45pm tonight with the game shown live on BBC Scotland and on iPlayer. The club have been working hard behind the scenes to add temporary seating to accommodate the extra supporters.

Around 2,250 Darvel fans will be in attendance, while up to 1,750 Aberdeen fans are expected to make the trip to Ayrshire. The reward for the winners of the match is a home tie against Falkirk in the fifth round.
