Darvel boss says lessons must be learned after Kilwinning defeat

Michael Kennedy admits being disappointed after last Saturday’s defeat to Kilwinning Rangers is an “understatement”.

The Darvel gaffer watched his team get put to the sword by an impressive Buffs side who won 1-0 thanks to an Alex McWaters strike in the first half.

The result saw Vale’s unbeaten start wiped out and a frustrated Kennedy has challenged his players to improve.

He said: “Saying that it was a disappointing afternoon would be an understatement.

“As much as Kilwinning haven’t started great this season, I was under no illusions as they are a quality side and they will be up there at the top of the table come the end of the season.

Kennedy admits Buffs were the better side (Kilmarnock standard)

“We didn’t start well, we then went down 1-0 deservedly, but the game ended up scrappy which doesn’t suit us.

“It’s up to us to impose ourselves and the game we want to play, we need to learn from this.”

Darvel face a tricky away trip this Saturday when they take on a unbeaten Blantyre Vics side who have taken four points from their first two games.
