Darts fans rage at Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright's refusal to shake hands after PDC World Championship semi-final

Darts fans have aired their frustrations and criticism after Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright refused to shake hands following the Scotsman's PDC World Championship semi-final win over the Welshman.

Former rugby player Price, known as 'The Iceman', had entered the clash as odds-on favourite, but was ruthlessly denied a victory by Wright in the disappointing contest.

Early on, Wright revelled in celebrating close up to Price after taking the first set, while a celebratory roar later on at the end of the second set from the Welshman later appeared to irritate Wright as they made their way to exit the stage for an interval.

And the frosty atmosphere came to a head as the semi-final concluded on Monday night at Alexandra Palace.

As the victor celebrated reaching his second ever final by a 6-3 margin, he immediately proceeded to shake the hands of the three officials.

Price followed and did the same while Wright simultaneously approached the audience end of the oche to show his appreciation by way of applause.

While a handshake is customary and the expected after sporting events such as this, the two competitors did not engage in such a gesture on this occasion.

After Price shook the hand of the third official, neither darts player approached the other for a handshake; Price proceeded to give the crowd a thumbs up before departing, while Wright appeared to head for a glass of water as Price exited.

The moment was captured by Sky Sports Darts below:

After his victory, Wright told Sky Sports Darts: "Before the match me and Gezzy were winding each other up.

"He said he was going to win the first two sets and I would change darts, I like him but I don't appreciate what he did.

"He wanted me to concentrate and I did, there you go, you lost."
